Alzheimer’s Disease and Other Dementias: A Guide for Primary Care Providers

I was contracted by a local agency who does a lot of work with the Texas Department of State Health Services, to create 3 courses related to screening, diagnosis, care coordination and referrals for Alzheimer’s disease and other forms of dementia.

These courses were developed with input from experts and were a departure from my usual work. To my surprise I really enjoyed the research and collaboration with some amazing doctors who were extremely patient with my learning curve.

Alzheimer’s Disease and Other Dementias: Screening and Diagnosis in Primary Care

This course covers best practices and provides tools for conducting cognitive assessments and follow up testing, communicating with patients and family/caregivers, facilitating diagnosis, and determining next steps.

Alzheimer's Disease and Other Dementias: The Role of the Primary Care Team

This course aims to empower primary care providers and affiliated healthcare professionals to play an appropriate role in ongoing care and management of Alzheimer’s disease and other forms of dementia and to connect patients and family/caregivers with support resources.
